Our brass leaf is kind of a signature of the shop: a small symbol of what we stand for. Something of beauty, timeless, and solid. Something that can be handed from person to person, or generation to generation.
Made from artisans, traditionally in sand moulds, in Sri Lanka, where we had a home for many years, in a hut on the sea.
Some of the uses that people have found over the years :
as a salt dish, sauce holder, ashtray, ring dish, as a butter mould to a cook who filled them with butter and refrigerated them, as a wedding favour ...each guest receiving one with a sugared almond in it, as a place setting with the guest names inside it...
I use mine to hold a charcoal disc for burning incense resin..though it does get very hot so this is something only to do with care on a piece of stone or other heatproof surface and without handling, once lit.
there are a myriad of uses for this lovely little object and I am always interested to hear more.
